The Kings Head (aka Ye Olde Kings Head) is a cosy, friendly 15th century pub in the historic town of Battle located in South East England. It is situated in Mount Street just moments from the historic landmark that is the 1066 Battle Abbey. The friendly staff and locals, excellent home cooked food, real cask ales, frequent live music and traditional events makes this building one of Britain's finest pubs, a great place to eat, drink and be merry.
Cheers!
Virtual Pub
This site is a virtual (and hand drawn) version of Battle's favourite local, so please have fun exploring each section. Keep your eyes peeled for links within the pictures that will reveal links to friendly sites, booking and location details.

Jam Night

22nd May - Four weeks since the last instalment, and even though it's rainy and horrible out tonight looks set to be a fine Monday evo* out in the Kings Head. Remember, when you're debating about going outside because it's a bit wet- you are waterproof! And just in case you aren't, bring a brolly. And your guitar if you play. Damn straight.

* Evo; noun, abbreviation of evening. Seriously.

Classical Trio
19th May - The customers of the Kings Head were treated to a cultural evening of fine classical music supplied by a trio of young musicians which proved to be more of a hit than we could have possibly anticipated. Everyone welcomed this delightful blend of strings like a breath of fresh air which set an excellent atmosphere in our old pub. Tremendous.

Marbles Tournament
14th April - The Annual Battle Marbles Tournament was great fun and an excellent excuse to have a long Good Friday, starting out at half nine in the morning. Visitors and passers by were astonished and baffled by the large group of adults playing marbles in the street as though they were children combined with bizarre fancy dress. The winners this year were The Kings Head's mens team and The Senlac's womens team, but when they came together to play the final the ladies came up smelling of roses. Great atmosphere flooded Battle today as competitors representing various pubs and businesses around Battle drank and laughed side by side on this less than sunny but otherwise fine weathered day.

Jam Night

24th April - As the weather gets warmer, the Jam Night gets- Jammier. The Kings Head pub-goers are getting the chance to shine, musicians young and old are having a laugh and talking music, 'avin' a pint and being encouraged to join in on this steadily growing regular event. I'm telling you the next one is the 22nd of May, so you've got no excuse to miss it. Dust off those strings and get down here!

10th April - Another successful Jam Night brings our brightest locals out for a bash on the guitar and sing along to a wide range of music where all are welcome to join in or just sit back and enjoy the buzzing atmosphere previously unseen on a Monday night. These evenings are becoming pretty regular now (every two or three weeks) due to its overwhelming popularity. The next instalment will fall on the eve of Monday the 24th of April so dust off your guitar and come and have a pint and a listen or join in on the Hard Nights Jam with Battles infamous jamming crew.
